Wow – what a show!

Wow – what a show! Not normally words you  here in the last week of rehearsals before the opening night!  Rent is one of the lesser known Broadway hits but it’s a fantastic show.  Set in New York, it tells the story of a year in the life of a group of friends, their struggles, triumphs and how love and friendship can overcome all odds.  How fitting – I’m sure it’s the love and friendship shared between the members of this talented cast that make the show what it is.

Special mentions to Peter Shimmin, Sophie Gage, Thom Jones, Scott Gimby, Craig Carpenter, Rachel O’Hare and many many more for their exceptional and heart-rending performances…..and the list of talented leads could go on from here to Christmas.

I don’t think I’ve ever had the privilege of working with such a fantastic amateur ensemble.  Dancers who between them have been European dance champions, finalists of Miss Dance UK and trained at some of the most prestigious dance colleges in the country such as Arts Ed, Tring – I use the word amateur only in the sense that they’re not being paid – the standard is certainly professional.

This cast deseves full houses to play to – please please support them.  You will get value for money and then some.  The biggest compliment I can pay is that I want to be up there with them as part of the cast.  I’d be proud to put my name to it.

That and the fact that I watched the finale last night with tears streaming down my face.
