Work Experience Blog – Day 3, 27th June 2012

Thursday, June 28th, 2012

After I did my blog, I filed some paperwork for Alison and then I had a break. I then had  to cut out articles about Dancewise from newspapers and place them into a pile ready for updating the press file. Then Jan showed me how to add fees on “Jackrabbit” for the children who needed to pay costume hire.  Jan and I then dealt with some emails.  Then  it was time for me to get changed into my dance clothing and we went to the studios.

I watched Alison teach classes which included Tap,Street Dance and Glee Club.

After Glee Club I joined in with the next class which was Teen/Adult Street.  It was a good way to end my 3rd Day at Dancewise.

Work Experience Blog – Day 2, 26 June 2012

Thursday, June 28th, 2012

The first job I had to do when I arrived at the office was to write up my blog on the computer.   When I finished that Miss Alison showed me some of the  costumes, which I febreezed and put out to air.  After that I had to get some different costumes and unpick the bows on them, and sort them into sizes.  Then I checked off another set of costumes against the cast list  to check that they had all been returned.

After I had finished with all the costumes, my next job  was to file some paper work in order, then I had my lunch break.

Then we went for a meeting with the flooring supplier and after that we sorted out payments on “JackRabbit”.

After that it was time to go get changed and go to the studios.

When arriving at Dancewise I met Miss Sarah, who is another teacher.  I sat in on Miss Sarah’s classes, which included Tap, Modern and Ballet.

I enjoyed my second day at Dancewise and though it was really cute when Miss Sarah asked me to give a sticker to the child with the most pointy toes!

Monday the 25th of june

Got into the office, Alison and Jan were very welcoming when I arrived at 12.  Alison gave me the staff handbook to read, it was all about what Dancewise expect of you.  Had lunch and cup of tea at around 2  o’clock.

After that Alison showed me how to work the customer database “Jackrabbit” and I spent time getting used to how everything worked,  After that Jan showed me on how to do the accounts and how to change the amounts when money is paid in.  After that it was time to get changed into dance clothing and go to the studios.  I helped Jan get set up and get everything ready.

While Alison was teaching the first class, Jan was showing me customer service, then I had to put letters into the correct order and give them to Alison to hand out to the children.

After that I sat in on Alison’s lesson so I could  see how she teaches –  the classes included Irish dancing.

I was really pleased on how everything went and look forward to my next day.
