2007 Show – ‘These are the Days’
Days to Remember
Concert Review by Janice Taylor
“‘These are the Days’ was the title of Dancewise Studios’ show in Holbury, and the youngsters who took part should certainly remember these days with pride.
From tiptoeing tiny tots through to beautifully poised ballet dancers, the students of Dancewise were a delight to watch. Covering so many styles of dance, including tap, jazz, Irish, modern, limbering, ballet and even a touch of musical theatre, the show clearly demonstrated the amazing progression these students make in a relatively short time, from raw novice to confident and assured performer.
Taking as its theme major celebrations and holidays, ‘These are the Days’ took the audience on a whistle-stop journey through the year, giving every age group and each class the chance to show what they had learned.
Among the most exciting aspects of the show were the Irish dances, full of speed, skill and mesmerising moves which had the audience calling for more. Delightful as ever were the very youngest performers who were absolutely enchanting as bunnies, chicks and flowers in their Easter presentation. There were also stunning performances from the jazz and modern dancers who knew how to really wow the crowd with their bright and fast-moving routines.
They say a sense of rhythm is everything in dance, and certainly the tap dancers of all ages, from Primary to Adult, had rhythm in their souls – and their feet.
Some spectacular costumes, full of colour and sparkle added an extra dimension to this wonderful show in which the performers simply oozed enjoyment, fun and a love of life.
Well done to everyone involved in ‘These are the Days’, you really know how to make an audience smile, and you can be sure we will be back for more of your sunshine next year.”
